A1 German Vocabulary List PDF: How to Use It

A simple study method for beginners using an A1 German vocabulary list.

A1 vocabulary should support simple sentences

A1 German words should help you say basic things: who you are, what you have, where you go, what you need, and what happens today.

The list should include pronouns, common verbs, everyday nouns, time words, basic adjectives, prepositions, and simple connectors.

Do not treat A1 as one giant pile

A beginner list can still be too much if you study it all at once. Break the PDF into sections you can actually review.

  • Study ten words at a time.
  • Keep articles with nouns: der Tag, die Frage, das Haus.
  • Read one example sentence before moving to the next group.
  • Review old words before adding more new words.

What to download next

After the A1 list, move to a nouns-with-articles list or a German verbs list. Those two categories carry a lot of early sentence meaning.
