German Question Word Order
German questions either begin with the verb or with a question word followed by the verb.
Examples
Kommst du heute?
Are you coming today?
yes/no questions start with the verb.
Wann kommt Lara?
When is Lara coming?
question word first, verb second.
Was brauchst du?
What do you need?
brauchst follows the question word.
